Meet Carolyn
Since 2021, I have been crafting whimsical wool animals by the hand needle felting process. Needle felting involves rolling up a small amount of wool and stabbing it with a special barbed needle. When the wool is pierced with the felting needle, it pulls the wool into itself eventually creating a firm shape.
Most of my work is built first with a wire armature that enables movement and provides more structure. There is no sewing or stuffing, just felted wool that has been sculpted by the needling process.
I love making my unique 3D creatures. I often have them engaged in human activities because it just makes me smile.
